hey,so i don't know if this is the right meaning of the song, but its what i hear when i listen to it:.What a boy to do when he knows no man now? its about how we don't have good men in our lives to brings us up as true men of God, to initatate us into manhood, this part speaks a lot to me, because i do not have an earthly father, but the song also goes into the wounds of a father. "never got to finish a fight, never got to draw my knife"(the warrior deep inside everyman) thats what i hear.

But, he remarks, it's not like those days when his father looked down on him. I think it's a bit sarcastic, though and he's saying that really not that much has changed. He's actually still afraid of his dad, he just doesn't have to admit it anymore. Instead of going to a friends party and landing a "holy kiss," he could've went out to the bridge.
