On February 12th, 1993 Robert and Jon succeeded in luring away a two year old boy from his mother but when she noticed him missing she ran outside and called him back.
That same afternoon while Denise had her eyes off of James for one second Jon took Jamess hand and lead him away from his mother at 3:59 pm according to the CCTV.
Robert and Jon took James was on a 2 1/2 mile walk away from the mall. Robert and Jon at one point to James to a canal where he sustained injuries to his head and face after he was dropped to the ground. Some reported seeing James being kicked by the boys in the ribs to get him to move.
Along the 2 ½ mile walk the three boys were seen by 38 people. Some say they saw bruising on Jamess face others said he looked happy. When Robert and Jon were asked they said they were taking care of their little brother or that he was lost and they were taking him to the police station. Along the journey the boys stopped to torture James because he kept crying for him mommy.
Robert and Jon took James to a section of railway line near the disused Walton & Anfield railway station on Walton Lane.
While there one of the boys threw blue modeling paint on Jamess face. They then kicked him and pelted him with stones, bricks and a 22lb iron bar. They then put batteries into his mouth.
Before they left Robert and Jon placed Jamess body over a train track hoping a train would run over his body so it would look like an accident.
Jamess remains were found two days later. He was naked from the waist down. His shoes, socks, pants and underpants had been taken off. His penis had been manipulated by his abductors.

James was born to his father Ralph Bulger and his mother Denise Bulger now Denise Fergus in Liverpool, Lancashire
A Forensic Pathologist later testified that James was already dead before a train ran over his body.
February 22, 1993 Robert Thompson and Jon Venables were arrested for James murder.
A trial Judge ordered the boys to serve eight years. It was then later increased to 10 yrs. It was then increased again to 15yrs.
October 2000, Lord Chief Justice Harry Woolf reduced their minimum sentence by two years for their good behavior and remorse shown. Their sentence was reduced to a minimum of eight years.
June 2001 Robert and Jon were to be released after a parole board said they were no longer a threat to the public. Robert and Jon were moved to a different location and given new identities.
Please to many children have gone missing because they slipped away. When you are out in public with your child,keep an eye on them.Children do not know the dangers in this world.
