I have not found an example of a microgreen/ hydroponic ebb and flow system that floods and drains every two hours without oversaturating the seeds. I haven't seen anyone doing microgreens with aquaponics at all. Nor is there anyone even doing bioponics as we are here. The layering should keep and air layer between seeds and burlap between flood cycles to keep seeds from molding. This short video shows the layers and also the water level where it rises to at full flood. There should not be a flow of water across the beds or else seeds might move off the tray or bunch at an end. Water comes up from the bottom and drains from the bottom which is ideal.

  • Thanks for your comment. The fiberglass screen seems to be the key. It keeps the seeds separate from the burlap, which stays moist. Almost provides an air layer avoiding mold or decay.

  • Very nice idea! You're right, there is no hydroponic ebb and flow system that floods and drains every two hours without oversaturating the seeds. But with the use of a burlap it can help in keeping the seeds moist and steady inside the grow tray.
