A four legged passive dynamic walker with knees. The walker moves down the ramp with no actuators. It is simply driven by gravity and natural dynamics.

Two trials are shown. Some instability is obviously still present.

  • What walks down stairs, alone or in pairs, and makes a slinkity sound?

A spring, a spring, a marvelous thing! Everyone knows it's Slinky.

It's Slinky, it's Slinky. For fun it's a wonderful toy.

    It's Slinky, it's Slinky. It's fun for a girl or a boy.

It's fun for a girl or boy!"

  • Is there a paper present for the development of this walker? I would be interested to see how you came to this design

  • are there ankles for this walker?

  • this seems like 2-period walking? where was this project and what is with the slight push before letting it go - the robot also seems to take a step or two BEFORE the push... how many 'initial conditions' are you giving it this way?

  • Is this at the University of Manitoba? If so, I'd like to join in and help with this project.
