A fast-paced overview of the seven headstands in the astanga second series. With thanks to Mimi Louriero for demonstrating the full series of transitions in her excellent studio, O2 Yoga of Somerville.

I really wanted to make this video because when I searched the web for info on these seven headstands, I couldn't find anything at all. I am not a yoga master -- or teacher -- but I hope this helps someone, if only as a quick reminder of the seven positions.

  • With practice I hope to conquer my fear and know that it is mind over matter...

  • Scary!!!!

  • At least this is what I've been exposed to by a number of senior teachers. : )

  • FYI, the sequence of the 7 headstands has been taught differently for quite some time. It begins with the "tripod" headstand, then the 2 extended arm versions. (Mukta Hasta) These 3 are followed by the 4 that this video starts with. (Baddha Hasta)

In the Ashtanga system, the transition between each is to literally drop down into chaturanga and take 1/2 vinyasa, then come to kneeling from downward dog, and go on to the next.

  • Can anyone identify the music source? Would like to get a copy.

  • I appreciate your humbleness in telling us that you are not an expert... You've still got the skills though. Thanks for posting! : )

  • Great video, thanks! :)

  • I <3 Mimi . . . probably the coolest teacher ever :)

  • Who is the artist(s) singing?

  • nice
