In Select Theatres Starting September 9th!

"Of all the cinematic explorations of the AIDS crisis, not one is more heartbreaking and inspiring than "WE WERE HERE," a quiet, elegiac documentary about the response to the epidemic in San Francisco... Shattering..." Stephen Holden, New York Times

"Uplifting...clear-eyed, soulful." Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times

"...Absolutely electrifying." Armistead Maupin

"A monumental story...No one would believe it if it wasn't true. Todd Haynes

"Deeply affecting..." Stephen Farber, Hollywood Reporter

"It's fu*king perfect." Cleve Jones, founder AIDS Memorial Quilt

"It's impossible for a single film to capture the devastation wrought by AIDS, or the heroism with which many in the LGBT community responded to it. But director David Weissman's documentary is such a powerful achievement because he just about does it." Ernest Hardy, LA Weekly

NO YOU'RE IGNORANT, that's what's up. It was first publicized by the media to intend it to be a "gay disease" when in fact during those early years, drug users, women and heterosexual couples of drug users were also getting HIV and AIDS. Sorry to tell you the truth. These facts will boggle your mind but you'll live through it and be a better person because now you know.

  • I heard 25,000 people died, before Reagan ever mentioned the word AIDS in public?
