It was his 12th birthday, the cake was ready, the decoration was done, family and friends all were present but Aditya Sharma was waiting for his father to return from his office. Even a year later the wait still continues. This story is of Aditya Sharma who celebrates his birthday on November 26 and even lost his father S K Sharma in the 26/11-terror attack.
Sharma a ticket inspector at the CST station was shot by the bullet fired from the guns of the Pakistani terrorists Qasab and Ismail. Sharma was in his office when he first heard the gunshots, he ran from his office to the railway control room and informed them to alert the commuters and the seniors about the incident. But while on his return he saw a girl crying for help and hence went to help her. But then, the terrorist shot him on his back and Sharma died of excessive bleeding.
Aditya didnt celebrate his birthday and the cake was never cut; incidentally Sharma brought the cake a day prior to the birthday and his death. Today, Aditya will turn 13 but will not celebrate the birthday; he has no reason to do so and would never like to celebrate the day when his father was killed. When asked anything, Aditya replies in monosyllables, he studies in standard eight and stays in Kalyan. Currently he is in Gwalior to inaugurate the Saheed Sushil Kumar Sharma Foundation that the family and friends of Sharma have founded in his memory.
