  • You have certainly copied the kata quite nicely. And that is impressive. Still, there are little things in kata that don't meet the eye and ultimately you are doing lots of things wrong. If you continue training on your own, you just keep repeating the same wrong things over and over again until it will be very difficult to correct them the day you find a Katori/iaido teacher (hope that day comes). Therefore, I discourage people to study "dead arts" such as swordsmanship on their own.

  • Could you tell me what mistakes i make.

I too hope that i find a teacher some day,but until then this is the only way to practice something that i really love and enjoy.

  • Could you explain that?

  • thank you.Any advices on my posture, holding the sword etc...

  • If you do not have a teacher and you taught yourself all this, I salute you. I can tell you are trying your best. I hope some day you do find a teacher! A teacher would enjoy having a student like you!

  • Hi really nice what you are doing. Remember there are three branches Otake, Sugino and Sugawara. They all teach the moves differently. So ill just give you a general tip. Keep your spine straight and jump/raise with your legs without crouching.

    Ceep it up

  • Promising indeed. Unfortunately, your iaijutsu will never be what it should be unless you find a teacher. Some things just cannot be taught from directions given by people on youtube (too many senseis here anyway ;-) ). Grasping even a glimpse of the essence of koryu is not possible without actually training under a teacher.

  • Nicely done for someone self-taught. I have one safety tip for you. When holding the sword horizontally forwards and touching the back of the blade - never move your hand too far back. If you do that you risk cutting your fingers when stabbing. Keep your right hand on the temple (right side of forehead) to be safe.

  • great trainnig i'ill just start to train as u do.. otherwise i like kid's voice too :) very cute

  • @kogai You shouldn't discourage people from practicing any art at all, even if it's amateur, Musashi Miyamoto was self taught.

  • より実用的な使用は非常にそのたわごとを知らない漠然とした... 坡州市はもっと練習しない

  • very impressive for learning on your own! But I do agree with most of the comments here.. in the long term you really need to find a good teacher. I can't comment on the techniques tho' becoz I've just started to learn katori myself.

    cheers

  • I have to say that your spirit is very strong. TSKSR is a wonderful art. I have been studying it for about 3 years under Phil Relnick Sensei in the United States. Unfortunately I cannot comment on your video. But I do want to say to keep looking for a teacher as you defintely have the passion and the drive to learn this. Good luck.

  • No one can put personal video doing KSR on youtube... Only Otake sensei and his 2 sons can do this... All members must to assign the secret oath and never show or talk about the tecnics with no students... First you must to look for a menkyo teacher under Otake sensei supervision and start study correctly and obay the oaph.... Don´t do this with our ancient marcial art... sorry...

  • HOLy shit very nicely done!
