Just for the record, I disagree with the whole 'identical creatures' thing. That'd be an ant-hive really.

I think the fact that few humans overcome their instincts is a shame. The fact that few people embrace diversity is a sign of the intellectual lack of maturity most of humanity suffers from.

As a sapient species, even if there are exceptions, humanity is largely infantile. Not really far removed from other animal species, in spite of humanity's vocal claim to the contrary.

Aaah, tribes of happy identical creatures are pretty staple in fiction. But I don't think it has to do with communism.

It more has to do with the fact that humans being pack-apes are biologically hardwired for aggression against 'other packs'. Yet humans also often dream of peace for all.

And so you get happy tribes of identical creatures, what humans wish they where sometimes. There to serve up morals that elude humanity.

Am I the only one who thinks this is communist propaganda???? You cant tell one Umpa Loompa from the next and they're all living "in happiness" singing about the horror of greed. After growing up and watching this as an adult, I can't believe they aired it during the cold war.

lol I noticed this (before). They're the only ones to sing TO the camera. And they were my favorites in this classic.
