its a LOT easier to take off that un used tire from the rim than a tire that's been ridden for a year and is really stuck on there good.

Rim locks hold the tire from spinning around the rim. Not from popping off in a hard impact. The inner tube alone will not keep the tire in place

that was very helpful. i changed my tire today, took me 2 hours and lots of f-words, some scratches on the rim, but hey, it was a great ride after.
