Great video!!!
Excellent explanation of the basics of a helicopter. And to everyone saying he left stuff out - yes. I'm fairly sure it takes more than ten minutes to explain EVERYTHING there is to know about helicopters and aviation.

Not a chance. I've watched this vid 2 or 3 times already...I would crash straight away. There seems to be alot of 'feel' that goes into flying a chopper. There's an awful lot to understand. Lots of sim time would be needed before I could even think about doing this. Looks like fun though!

if you can make a donut with your manual shift car you can fly a helicopter just need some practice
-
I always thought that helicopters have very limited gliding ability, and that was what made them so dangerous (relatively speaking). Great vid.

@leviterande Did you not watch the video it was pretty clear

1 person failed helicopter school

I DON'T THINK THE REGULAR PERSON STILL UNDERSTANDS HOW IT WORKS, YOU'VE NOT GIVEN THE REASON PITCH AND SPEED CREATE LIFT.

Great beginning concept of helicopter flying. Thanks

theres truly NO vid on how helicopters fly.........

I'll stick to my plane. Helicopters scare me, lol. Nice video though and interesting.
do ALL helicopters have that 4 limb steering system? im talking like the apaches and those military helicopters?
locomex713 1 year ago
@locomex713 Yes, they all use collective for up down and cyclic for forward, back, left and right.

@socratic101 so if you can fly a ultra ligth helicopter you can probably fly a apache? or like a chinook?
locomex713 1 year ago
@locomex713 Probably not! The level of complexity of helicopters is VERY different - for example, a recip engine operates very differently from a turbo jet (never mind one or two engines). Rigid, semi rigid and fully articulated rotor heads are very different and require specific training. Gettng the idea?

@socratic101 what happens if you are flying low level and the engine fails or
if ur flying across the ocean then what happens with altitude too low for autorotation
or no place to land

@danielpilot95 The guy in the helicopter is also an instructor.... here is his response:
All aircraft have limitations that if exceeded can ruin your whole day. You have identified a couple limitations of the of the conventional helicopter. There are two height vs. velocity operating regions where it may not be possible to establish a stable autorotation after an engine failure. Too fast and close to the ground and you may contact the surface before the pilot and aircraft can react.
