About this cat.
At first I made every thing accurate and well engineered but they just looked like a glorified steam engine works.
So when I made every thing crooked or loose the cat came to life.
This cats head was one of the original kilkenny cats and now after decades he is still chasing after his enemy for the last of his tail.
Press a button on the base and he wearily limps to life and with a dazed look in his eyes paces endlessly away.
When I show this to friends they are riveted to the weary but realistic action of this piece of pure mechanical art.
I love it, my grand kids love it,

  • its his tail he is after now

  • Excellent piece of work, not only in the construction but also in the motion that you have captured. After reading some of the other comments I have to laugh, especially "package severance" TWAT springs to mind amongst a myriad of other labels that I will refrain from posting. I am a sculptor myself it's always good to see some one elses inspiration, have you created any other animals? Thanks for posting.

  • an albatross a dragon and a peckatu bird

  • the cat is made up of brass levers and alloy body frame.

powered by the gearbox from an old VCR and 12 volts small batteries.

it has approximately 100 parts (excluding the stainless steel special bolts made for each joint)and took many weeks to make.

an excercise in pure mechanical art

  • you ar dead right that is a swimming motion

    thanks for that observation
