What a beautiful hook you have :). thanks for the video

i would do the same with a VERY thin extra yarn, so as not do dilute the eyelash effect too much and you could still get a cool contrast that way

WOW. I was figuring out how to use this kind of yarn since its almost impossible to work with. Its so thin and it tangles sometimes and you cant see the next stitch clearly. Now I now. Thanks! You're awesome, I swear.

i like your crochet hook

@lgpars the easiest way to adjust a pattern is to look at how many stitches per inch you're doing. Then, you can measure the same ammount with the bulkier yarn and easily compensate for the difference.

Well, it's not the novelty yarn itself that is bulky but if you pair it with a worsted weight yarn I would think that it would then be bulky and the pattern would have to be changed which I am not good at doing. I have to go by a pattern and am not good at adjusting one differently. But anyway it's a great idea if you are talented enough to be able to know how to change the pattern to allow for the extra yarn.

tjw, when using the two strands, do you find patterns that call for bulky weight yarn or what? Since the novelty yarn is usually bulky, doesn't this make the pattern come out all wrong if it is calling for bulky weight. The two strands makes it a lot heavier doesn't it?

I have used novelty yarn with flowers, hats and scarves using my own patterns. I have never found novelty yarn to be bulky. There is always going to be some modification involved with any crochet pattern. If you find a pattern for a sweater or something fitted, I would hope the author of the pattern will go in to detail and explain how they were able to see their stitches. Novelty yarn is difficult to work with alone and the stitches are hard to see.
