  • I think he just did it for the soundtrack, not to be released as a single.

  • I love this song

  • And there I stood, and I hollered someone fade me.

  • I LOVE this version more than any other - my only regret is that Don Henley didn't keep the original lyrics, which would have given it such oomph - Frank Loesser knew what he was about - his original lyrics are sheer genius:

"For the people all said beware

    You're on a heavenly trip

    People all said beware

    Beware, you'll scuttle the ship.

And the devil will drag you under

By the fancy tie 'round your wicked throat"

and "And as I laughed at those passengers to heaven" - Henley's music fits.

  • I actually remember hearing this one--quite a few times on the radio as a child--I think on 104.3 K Rock. In fact, that's how I was first introduced to this song--and was rather surprised that the song actually originated from Guys and Dolls--when I later saw the musical and recognized the lyrics despite the change of the melody.

  • I love the song and the movie! I had to listen to it tonight as an idiot coworker rocked the boat today. He really needs to sit down and shut up!

  • it actually was played on radio too

  • Check out the Wikipedia article "Sit_Down,_You're_Rockin'_the_Boat". It's short but interesting. I just saw Leap of Faith again and just had to check out the song one more time. The song has been around longer than you might think... ;)

  • It was many years ago now but I remember seeing a video for a version that sounded a lot like this... I could have sworn it was Sting but my searches are only turning this up.

  • I think this version was only ever played on the radio once. It was played on 93Q in Syracuse, and there's a sound clip of it on YouTube (that's the first place I ever heard it).

  • i love this song... i always call my mom and ask who sings it cause i forget but now i have it saved to my favorites....woooohoooo
