Now how often does one get to see THREE of the GM skywagons. From left to right, Steve's 1969 Buick Sportwagon, fully equipped, with working A/C, 400 Buick V-8, Turbo 400. Middle is Lorenzo's 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser, nicely equipped too, it has a 350 Rocket V-8, Turbo 350 automatic, and a 2.56 final drive, open gears. This will be changed out to a 455 with a Turbo 400 and a Positraction rear end. And on the right is my car, a 1972 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser, not very well optioned out, but at least it has A/C. It has mildly worked over Rocket 350 of the correct year, a Turbo 200-R4 automatic overdrive, and a 3,73 final drive equipped with an Auburn limited slip differential.

  • I had a 1971 Pontiac Lemans thirty years ago...Pontiac's GM intermediate body as sporty as these...handled well, tracked like a BMW up to triple digit speeds....back then NO ONE wanted used wagons...even sport ones like these..I got mine in pristine condition for three figures..my friends laughed until they saw the full sized bed mattress in the back..no problem finding a place to make love on date night.. carried my surfboards and guitars by day..these were like enclosed Chevy El Caminos...

  • Indeed i know, the wagons often gave up their more heavy duty parts (Vista Cruisers and Sportwagons had 9 X 2.5 brakes on the rear vs 9 X 2 on the other GM mid-sizes. Let them laugh, they usually don't on a nice twisty road where the 50/50 (actually a little tail heavy on my wagon) weight distribution really shines! The wagons are stable at speed too, no doubt!

  • cool i have never seen one of those buicks before

  • The Sport Wagon is even less seen then the already elusive Vista Cruisers. To get three of these cars together at once is a treat!

  • Nice cars. I've always enjoyed the look of the skywagons. It's too bad Buick didn't keep the sky roof Sportwagon as long as Oldsmobile kept its Vista Cruiser.
