Great selection - just one thing - the Derby Square slide is not 1915 - I'd say from the cars, 1955 and some of the tram tracks have been tarred over - the trams had all but diappeared 2 years after this pic.

Lost Liverpool

I've never been to Liverpool but to me, the OLDER pictures look better than the newer ones. It seems like Liverpool was a bustling city back in the older days. Seems a bit dull in the newer pictures.

My (ex) Father-in-Law was a Lord Mayor of Liverpool. I visited Liverpool from Australia where I live, and attended the Town Hall. "What do you think of Liverpool?" he asked "we've done a good job?"
"It looks like Milton Keynes..." I replied, "...it looks like a big car park"
He was unimpressed. But from knocking down the Cavern, to knocking down the Dock Railway there have been lots of well intentioned people who have made a mixture of necessary improvements and appalling planning blunders ;-(

Hell! They've turned the home of the Beatles into Arlington Virginia.

Old Liverpool of my childhood so full of the bustle of people. It feels like a community. Modern Liverpool soul less and ugly. Who is to blame?

It would be nice to see the photos, but all you get to see are cobbles and tar, as soon as it pulls out to show the whole picture it changes, so it's seven minutes of road surfaces, and precious little Liverpool.

A cracking Vid Jimmy -thanks for sharing - i can remember several of them streets as they where

It is so like every other place now. It used to be bustling with lots of private independent shops.
Now it looks just like all other clone towns.

Amazing how ugly the changes are. Ugly new houses, ugly cheap looking cars, ugly bus stops etc. Who is responsible for that ß
Once there was a way to get back home… But after so many years and so many changes, it is no longer possible. The Liverpool of the 60s was my city but is no more.

You`re right, they have torn the heart out of it,turned it into another Milton Keynes or Harlow.I moved here in 1964 when my Dads job brought him to the Northwest from London.I thought I`d died and gone to heaven what a place.Joined the merch in 1966 and stayed in til 76 I don`t even recognise the place
