Smog Legal Engine Transplant Kit from GM V8TV

GM Performance Parts recently unveiled the first C.A.R.B. certified, EPA Emissions legal late-model engine swap for hot rods and muscle cars. We talked with Bill Martens about what the E-ROD kit consists of, and how GM was able to make this 430 HP LS3-based engine package be cool with Johnny Law. The key is the completeness of the kit, which comes with everything from the engine to the catalytic converters, vapor canister, and a special calibration in the ECM. That's right, over 20 mpg, catalytic converters for clean air, and 430 legal horsepower.

Looks like a great product but who can afford an engine package like that? I sure couldn't afford it, probably well over $10,000. The best I can do is buy from a wrecking yard . In my opinion the government has stuck it's nose way too far up everyone's butt. Pretty soon they will be taxing farts and restricting us to our homes!

problem with the kit is you cant keep the stock engine and alot of people kinda preffer to keep that

carbon isnt the issue we dont even have carbon limit on the smog test in cali.the problem is hc co and nox .also in cali there is no smog laws for 75 and older,dont want to do a smog get a hot rod

Great kit. I want one for myself...

But c'mon folks, a gallon of gas still puts the same amount of carbon into the air no matter how clean it's burned. It also still offers enough more power than my LT1 that I'd still be satisfied.

in Texas a 25 year old car is emissions exempt so why worry about it. And you can put headers on a car and still hook up the original smog control,I did it to my car for$350 with ceramic coating witch stopped my vaper lock problem.

It can get very hot in central Texas
