I'm asking who supports Instant Run Off Voting, if they don't, why not?

My name is Blake, I live in Philadelphia, PA.

  • @AmericanVoluntarist (Continue from: ...Red 2nd.)

Blue received 4 total, Red 2 & Green 3, so Red is removed. Now you’ve 5 votes for Blue & 4 for Green; Blue wins.

Compare Green to others. 4 liked Red over Green, 1 liked Red over Green, 1 liked Red over Green & 3 liked Green over Red=6 for Red & 3 for Green. 4 liked Blue over Green, 1 liked Blue over Green, 1 liked Green over Blue & 3 liked Green over Blue=5 for Blue & 4 for Green.

Check out the Consensus Voting System or Approval Voting.

  • This is not my example, but it is a good one nonetheless.

    4 ppl voted Blue, 1 voted Red, 1 voted Red & 3 voted Red; Red wins majority at 5/9. Introduce IRV & Green. 4 ppl vote Blue 1st & Red 2nd. 1 voted Red 1st & Blue 2nd. 1 voted Red 1st & Green 2nd. 3 voted Green 1st & Red 2nd.

    (Continue to: Blue received…)

  • Because you can't argue against IRV without arguing against democracy... it's just all about education.

  • You might have wanted to say, "...and move on to the next person..". Anyway, thanks for asking this question!
