Remus/Hermione - Too Late

READ THIS BEFORE YOU WATCH OR IT PROBABLY WON'T MAKE SENSE!

hermione meets remus lupin on the train.
he saves all of them from the dementors, winning her heart from that point on.
she visits him in his room one day, confessing she was having mixed feelings for him.
he tells her that's it isn't possible for them to become anything more than friends. she knew this answer was coming, and she quickly leaves his room, embarassed and hurt.
he secretly does care for her, but he's "too old, too poor, and too dangerous."
he asks her a simple question in class the next day, and she finds it hard to answer him or look him in the eye. he asks to speak with her after class, knowing she's struggling with her feelings, but she avoids him at all costs and leaves quickly, glancing back in his direction sadly. she recalls him never failing to defend her and her friends, and she knows that she is beginning to fall in love with him.
he catches up with her the next afternoon on the bridge and tries to make her understand that it is in her best interest to stay far away from him. her stubborn heart disagree's with him, and he realizes at that point that she will fight for him. he apologizes wholeheartedly, and she tells him it's too late for an apology, not because she won't forive him, but that she already loves him too much to turn back now.
a week or so goes by, and she tries to hold everything in. he comes to her privately, finally. he tells her she's the most incredible witch he's ever met. he can't bring himself to say anything more, and turns to leave. then, from all of the built up tension inside, she screams at him, "I trusted you...with my heart."
realization dawns on him, and he knows that he can't hide from her anymore, because it is only hurting them both.
he leaves her quickly, knowing that he shouldn't be feeling these things, but makes up his mind the moment she turns the corner the next night, dressed for the Yule Ball. he can't take his eyes off of her, and she ends up fighting with her date and leaving the Ball out of the frustration of loving Remus. the next day, he brings her into his office and confesses softly, "I love you." she smiles, knowing that he meants it. her heart is now content.
