  • szajs..

  • this is not Oberek!!!!!!! this is shit and the teachers are terrible, im instructor of polish dance in Poland so i know what im taking about, this is some kind of joke we never dance something like that

    again this is not Oberek!!!!!

  • That's a Polka, just add lots of turning/spinning around the dance floor. :)

  • how can you pepole teach polish dances if you don't even know the basic steps

  • LaughAnn, I don't know what you mean by reject one leg.

The dance step they have in this video with bouncy moving left and right is what you might see people do at the Polish festival or disco - maybe it needs a new name. Let's call it 'Polish festival step'

    For real Oberek

As Jacek said, on count 3 the leg is lifted up and back (by bending that leg's knee)

    - watch the video of real Oberek folk dancers

  • In the Oberek you have to reject one leg...

    and this grip...

    it is totally another..

  • Fuck no! This doesnt look anything like oberek!

  • This is not an oberek They are teaching a kind of hopping waltz. The oberek is a fast dance , but here the bands tend to make a waltz out of it.

  • except in usa dance schools which often take a heel lead on first step forward...

  • this isn't polish oberek...
