What is this? An unknown creature was swimming near surface just back of out diving boat at Great Barrier Reef Australia. It is small about 7-8cm length, has transparent body with squid-like legs and a black dot on top. The black dot is always on surface, looks like a micro-periscope that is watching us! It seems to love dancing, opening legs and turning over elegantly. We picked it in a bucket and filmed, then let it go back to ocean.
Is this a kind of squid or jellyfish? Or an alian, eccentric spy machine?? I have not much idea about them anyway. Can anyone explain what this mysterious creature is?
Its awesome. Thats what it is.

Siphonophore on the surface? They have only been known as deep-sea dwellers. If it is I cant say it looks or acts like a common specimen. Well if there was one, there are more so someone will identify it.

@indicasativa86 about 87 or 98% of the ocean is unknown to us

The genus could be Physophora.

It's a Siphonophore, a colonial creature distant relative of Jellyfishes and corals. It's stunning how it's moving fast, like an Octopus.

The ocean is terrifying I'm sure we don't even know 1/2 of what's down there
