Yes, they did these same "el gato" station IDs for WNJU, Channel 47, in the late 1970s. I remember the station ID sequences involving the "torero," the cat beating the bongo drums, the cat dancing while someone sawed the floor under him, and the bongos playing while the cat was prepping the camera.

This ID for WAPA-TV was originally created in 1974. Here, it was "recycled" with new music (titled: "Preciosa") and a new voiceover by the late Spanish actor Jose Basterra, who was the "voice" of WAPA-TV from 1979-1982. In the '74 original airing of this ID, there's no music but people yelling: "Ole!!" everytime the cat swung the red carpet thingy.

Bueno, las tres compañías de cable en Puerto Rico tienen a WAPA-TV en el 4 al igual que Dish Network. La única excepción es DirecTV que tiene a WAPA en el 164. Y con la televisión digital, WAPA estará virtualmente en el 4.1 aunque en realidad esté transmitiendo a través del 27. Así que hay razón para que no vuelvan a traer el 4 clásico de WAPA.

Deberian traer al gato de nuevo... pero el numero 4 creo que no vale la pena traerlo ya que la digitalizacion de las compañias de Cable hacen que los canales ya no tengan un numero como tal.

El logo del 4 que utilizo en los anos 80 regreso a partir de finales de 1995 y mantuvo hasta el mayo de 1998
