Tjupurru provides a unique soundscape, with Didjeribone and FaceBass, to a walk up to the summit of Mt Kiangarow, the highest point of the Bunya Mountains National Park. This is an excerpt from the Bunya Mountains National Park Virtual Walkabout DVD which features walks across the 30 million year old lava domes of an extinct volcano in Queensland which provides cool refuge for the largest stand of ancient cone-bearing Araucarias in the world today. Once the food for dinosaurs the large pineapple-shaped fleshy bunya pine cones contain edible nuts that were the focus of traditional aboriginal festivals. Custodians from Queensland and New South Wales would regularly gather for ceremonies, to make laws, resolve disputes, trade and feast.
