a newer and better video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kQWfr-AW_Y

At last ... Enzo is now officially practicing this beautiful piece by Albéniz with his teacher's "imprimatur". He attempted this on his own when he was 11 but his teacher did not pursue it then, perhaps waiting for Enzo to become more mature.
Hope you like it. Thank you for listening and watching.

from WIKIPEDIA:
Iberia is a suite for piano composed between 1905 and 1909 by the Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz. It is Albéniz's masterpiece and his best-known work, highly praised by Claude Debussy and Olivier Messiaen, who said: "Iberia is the wonder for the piano; it is perhaps on the highest place among the more brilliant pieces for the king of the instruments". Stylistically, this suite falls squarely in the school of Impressionism, especially in its musical evocations of Spain. The piece Evocación (A-flat minor - A-flat major) is an impressionist reminiscence of Albéniz' native country, combining elements of the southern Spanish fandango and the northern Spanish jota song forms.

  • Evocacion (evocation in English), from the Latin "evocare", to call forth. It is the act of calling forth, especially memories. Albeniz wrote this piece and called it appropriately "Evocacion", for out of the keyboards the interpreter has to "call forth" those romantic, pleasant, sad memories of yester-years. It is remarkable that 15 year old, Enzo, is able to call forth out of the white and black keys such tender and ancient evocations. Thanks for sharing

  • Thank you Dear Enzo- I am always thrilled to

    receive your beautiful gifts...Hugs Polly

  • Sound so gorgeous! You have great feeling in this Evocación, Enzo. This is the first time that I get to know composer ‎Isaac Albéniz and this piece. You gives me a glimpse into the window of ‎Isaac Albéniz's music. For this reason, thank you very much, Enzo!

  • @p2o2l2p2 That is also my question. The camera is quite a good one.

  • Beautiful playing. Enzo.

  • Beautiful....!

    When did you record this?

  • some background:

"‎Isaac Albéniz was born in Camprodon in the province of Girona of northern Catalonia in Spain. His mother’s family was Catalan while his father’s was from the Basque country. Albéniz at different times in his life claimed to be 'moor' and 'Jewish.' He must have been intrigued by the rhythms and tonalities of Jewish, Gypsy, and Arab music to such an extent that he felt it in his soul."

  • Great performance Enzo. Congratulations from México.
