Helicopter ride from Tasiilaq to Kulusuk, East Greenland, May 2011
Greenland doesn't have roads like other countries. The land is too harsh and people too few to justify the building of roads. In the summers people get around by boat, but when the sea is frozen most of the year, the main mode of transportation between settlements is helicopter (or airplane between towns that have airports). Here is our scenic trip from the town of Tasiilaq, largest settlement in East Greenland, to Kulusuk International Airport.
