"The truth" Annie answered innocently watching Melody as the young girl took in her best friend
"You look tired" Melody admitted a little more bluntly then Annie expected she had meant to.
"Thanks Melody you look breathtaking to" Chloe countered sending her friend a teasing yet tired scold
"That's...I...how is the little one" Melody stuttered changing the subject successful as she watched a dreamily gaze drift across Chloe's eyes.
"Restless little guy but as beautiful as ever. Joe won't let his little boy out of his sights. At the moment I'm sure he is describing each of his uncles to him in detail." Chloe shook her head a warm smile spread across her lips
"Joe and you taking parenthood in your stride then?" Melody asked teasingly
"Of course not both Joe and I have our moments of insanity but luckily normally the other is there to calm the other one down, Joe's been great" Chloe confessed
"He's just trying to recover from fainting" melody smirked narrowly avoiding Chloe's hand as she took an aim towards her arm
"Well if I was watching the birth from his angle I think I might faint to" Chloe smirked as she dropped her elbow against the counter placing her cheek to her open palm.
"You're a doctor you're meant to be good with that stuff" Melody stated as she perched on her own stall
"Well sure when it's with other people, patients its fine, but if its people I know I panic, pressure gets too much sometimes" Chloe admitted shrugging
"And you wanted her here encase someone got hurt with the piñata" Melody chuckled towards Annie.
Annie who had just finished loading the baking tray into the oven, set the time to 20 minutes before Turing back to the smirking pair behind her.
"Well it wasn't the only reason I invited her Mel but then again it was a part" she admitted smirking knowingly towards Chloe who had thrown her head back with a short laugh
"Well knowing how much you guys truly! Love me seeing as were actual family now and all" she stated giving both Melody and Annie a grin in turn "I was hoping we could get a family photo before the rest of your guests turned up"
"Frankie and the boy's parents haven't turned up yet" Annie frowned
"They have, they followed us in. I came in here to get you two, Joes trying to set the camera up now" Chloe announced innocently as she slipped down from her stall
"So where in that question was a request" Melody smirked her eyes following her friend as she made her way towards the door
"There wasn't" Chloe countered with her own matching smirk "so hurry up everyone's waiting" she exclaimed before exiting the kitchen a soft smile tugging at her lips
Melody watched Chloe's retreating form before turning back to Annie her head titled to one side. Annie shrugged indifferently wiping her hands roughly against a kitchen cloth.
"Come on you know how Chloe is with family photos" Annie breathed
"What's this one for?" Melody asked as she jumped off of her own stool
"I think she's giving it to Joe to send back with the answer to Laurence's invitation" Annie admitted as she wiped the last of the counter down before throwing the cloth softly into the sink
"Right Laurence's retirement party" Melody noted deep within thought
"Hmm..."
"That's got to be close right?" melody asked
"Yeah little over two weeks away, you and Nick are going aren't you?" Annie asked in a shocked scold
"Of course we are, after everything Laurence did for us were not going to miss his retirement are we. I was just thinking what I...we could possible get him as a gift." Melody admitted
"Well whatever you're getting him it can't possible match Chloe and Joes present" Annie countered
"Really why what did they get him?" melody asked taken back
"Nothing...their asking him to become Zack's godfather" Melody's lips parted in silent awe at Annie's words before they closed quietly her arms crossing playfully across her chest
"Show offs" she scoffed.
Annie smiled at her broadly just as the small figure of Hope stopped abruptly within the doorway before walking slowly into the kitchen. Melody smirked as Annie smiled softly at her daughters tactics.
"Auntie Chloe says that you need to come outside now or she is going to persuade daddy to buy me a piñata every year" Hope explained her innocent eyes open wide as her mother scooped her into her arms.
"Well we can't have that can we" Annie stated rubbing her nose playful against her daughter's who respond by giggling loudly.
"Best to give your auntie what she wants" Melody smiled devilishly as she tickled hope's side as she passed leading the pair out of the kitchen all the way out into the garden. Family gatherings at any of the Jonas households were never short of an experience, ones that nobody wanted to forget anytime soon.
