Brutal wars in Chechnya and now trouble in places such as Ossetia and Ingushetia have shown the world that ethnic conflict and Islamic separatism are seen as serious threats to Russia, even as it tries to regain some of the power it wielded during the Cold War.

But not all of Russia's Muslim republics are so restive. Welcome to sunny Tatarstan.

We had heresy laws in the West we burnt alive anyone who was not proved to be Christian...heresy laws lasted for a thousand years or so and that is why we have no other religions in the West hence all their wars with French, Spanish, Dutch, German and others were all Christians. I think Muslim faith is on decline. I think Increase of Islam is presented by propagandist as an encroaching danger to the Christian population of Russia to create wars and blame it on the Muslims.
