@musicioso yes u are right he is not even close to the best. i have know idea wat he played in this video, he did not follow the tradition of a tabla solo at all. siar is a good tabla player but is too much into fame and fortune than keeping the tradition alive and playing the right way.

While he is a good player, he lacks repertoire and clearly some imagination. It is a grave insult to say that he is one of the best in the world when we are blessed with such maestros as Zakir Hussain, Tari Khan and Anindo Chaterjee. He is also not playing traditionally, and Tabla is a traditional instrument of Hindustani classical... and what were those horrible things he put the drums on! So please don't say he is the best and listen to some real Ustad.
