@YesYouCan31 - sure, and there are a couple of female newsreaders that are on GTV news that have dark skin, and they are way hot !
The skin colour part of this add is superficial nonsense, but I wouldn't get carried away over the plot of a silly little one-minute-long advert - they were hardly writing a plot to equal "Amistad" or "Roots" !

She can go hell with her light skin.

is that kubolo's sis, deborah?

@Ghanapedia Oh yes the "original hacks" man . Very catchy commercial. yes you are right. Lots of billboards are popping up everywhere and that is a cause for concern.
There is the "new" products like Indomie popping up everywhere.

@TheEyesOfNye lol Exactly so. She probably thought dark skin would be unappealing. Unfortunately lots of Ghana guys are really attracted to the "yellow sisi" type. I don't mind dark skin or light- character is what matters.
Why did she list dark skin as though that would be unappealing!? I love my dark skin gals.

No BS here, my Ghanapedia colleague tells me that Ghanaians have some kind of strange fascination with this. He tells me of a woman he knew who bleached her skin so much, that in the end she damaged her complexion......
I don't see the big issue myself, my girlfriend has fairly dark skin, but I think she is absolutely beautiful, and wouldn't want her to change.....
Presumably, the writers of this advertisement have not thought this comment out when it was scripted......

But don't we just love Ghana adverts, they are often made of 90% corn & 10% poor writing........these slick, polished adverts that we get in western countries with mass media are often a bore, and like you, it makes me want to get away from the mainstream.....
Usually I stick to pay TV, although even that is commercialized in a way......for free to air television in Australia, I usually watch either SBS or ABC - minimal adverts, and plenty of documentaries & other good quality productions....

@Ghanapedia Yes very much more amusing and that's the kind of adverts i like to see. Here they keep shoving adverts down our throats--- everywhere you go...even in churches today there are adverts.
Bit by bit Ghana is learning this nonsense... I was stunned to see people's shops and even residential walls plastered with "cowbell, maggi, royco, omo, Milo, azar paint, vega tomato paste and many more . That's extreme.

One thing that stands out in Ghana more than anything is billboards - they certainly don't mess around there.......
All the ones you mentioned are common, but my favourite is the one for those "Hacks" cough lollies, with the guy holding his throat.......I have a friend here that I often refer to as a hack, and so I sent the picture of the wall mural to him as a joke......
I also like the safe-sex one of the policeman in riot gear holding a condom.......
