For anyone who knows their stuff, both songs have rather similar chord progressions, and rely on the organ to render them.

Hate to burst your bubble old stick, but apart from having an entirely different pace and feel, the two tracks have completely different time signatures. Grandma's Hands in is laconic 2/2 and Riders on the Storm is a pacey 4/4. The Gibson G101 and Fender Piano bass sound notwithstanding [a common enough popular sound of the era] the two tracks are entirely dissimilar.

I think we forgot how great a songwriter Bill was....never extremely prolific (ala Prince or someone) but when he came with them ,he delivered classics.....I mean both "Lean on me" & "Ain't no Sunshine" are complete American classics......with this not to far behind.
