Lol, my school blocked cmd but not powershell. FAIL!

@xorg62 Yes, but better.
-
@lin545 Well my friend, it is certainly no good for you

@maggot80 Actually *nix should do exactly as microsoft have done.
PowerShell is amazing, and exactly how it should.
For example, ifconfig. In *nix, you would need to egrep it to hell to just to get an IP address.
With PS, all you do is run the command, index the adapter, and request the IPAddress member

cmd is way better

To be honest I don't really understand why windows wouldn't just as well make a terminal(unix)-like command-prompt.. It has been around for quite some time and gotten extremely efficient! Verb-noun might make it simplistic to begin with but I can't see the efficiency in the longer run..

Ahaha /etc/init.d/microsoft stop!!!!

Stupid terminal ripoff.
Uneeded and stupid.
Because no educated person put windows on server!
And what it is good for then? For gamers?!
-
CMD on steroids!!!

Not true. Powershell is object driven, not text based. It is much more robust, yet refined. You can get the same result with much less code.

Thanks very much for the intro. The main reason cmd.exe "needs an upgrade" is Microsoft kept diddling around, tightening syntax "for security" on the one hand, while adding tons of cutesy doo-dads on the other hand. It became a royal, incomprehensible MESS.
Now we have a super fancy DOS. Looks really nice! But how do I get the enthusiasm to invest hundreds of hours learning a language that'll be unrecognizable three weeks from Tuesday?
But nice job on the video. Fast typist. ;-}
