The Creeping Terror - Dance Hall

Here is the infamous "community dance hall" scene from 1964's The Creeping Terror. I have reedited the different shots so that they are grouped together from the camera position that they were shot at. You will notice that various shots sprinkled throughout the scene are just one shot cut up into many pieces and sprinkled throughout. I have included clips from It Came From Hollywood as it includes 2 additional reaction shots from the original 85min version, as opposed to my TV edit at 75min from Film Wizards, and shows the difference in quality from the TV video source and the 16mm (maybe 35mm) print of the film.

There are a couple of interesting observations I made while editing this footage. First, the shoes on the last two people eaten do not match their footwear in the other shots (suggesting that these are actually people from the corner exit). All the monster closeups of head and mouth are all shot in the corner of the room where people are escaping through the exit, with the monster's back to the exit (notice the clues of the curtain, steps and fire extinguisher). When everyone has escaped through the door, the drunk guy appears to still be at the door and it appears that the monster swings over and gulps him up on his way to the last two (notice the path of TCT to the bar, then suddenly a bunch of tables are moved and it's heading a different direction). The last two victims are the couple sitting at the table with the spastic guy who dances with another girl and then gets snubed by his date in the tarten dress when he returns to the table.

Heavens to Murgatroid! I haven't laughed this hard in ages! The "monster" in this bargain basement pice of schlock is about as scary as Mr Rogers having a bad hair day! And if the Terror creeps along...why can't the "victims" simply outrun it? Obviously after the producers spent all their money on the best rock n roll music on the market & dance lessons for the cast, there was no money left for a believable "alien from space"! A laugh riot....THANX for posting! You've MADE my day! :-)
