"EXPOSING DC'S CRIME SOLVERS, PERFORMERS, ARTISTS AND PRANKSTERS"

A unique mix of presenters including a writer of fashion crime mysteries, directors of Moliere, an organizer of pillow fights, a wonderland creator, a floating museum curator, an architect on people watching people-watching, a tactile dinner planner and transformers of the underground.

PechaKucha --Japanese for the sound of conversation-- taps into a demand for a forum in which creative work can be easily and informally shown. The brainchild of Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham, Klein Dytham architecture, Tokyo, began in 2003 as a forum for designers to meet, network, and show their current work to the public, and has since spread to over 300 cities across the world.

Organized and launched in March 2007 by sisters and partners of ita-design, Rouzita and Bita Vahhabaghai, Capitol PechaKucha promotes local DC creatives working in all media including the visual arts, architecture, fashion, design, music, film, and literature. Also referred to as "Twitter for the visually inclined", the PechaKucha Night presentation format allows presenters 20 images each shown for 20 seconds - giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. Talks are concise, the interest level is constant, and more presenters receive the opportunity to share their work.

Featured presenters for Vol. 12 include: Ellen Byerrum reknown Author of the Crime of Fashion mysteries, Bruce Witzenburg of the Capitol Improv Group responsible for the No Pants Metro Ride, DC Pillow Fight and Survive DC, Cade Martin Photographer known for his collaboration on Wonderland: The Washington Ballet book, Edgar Endress of the Floating Lab Collective known for transforming a taco delivery truck into a mobile museum, Breeze Giannasio of the Arts Coalition for Dupont Underground on their efforts to revive the old Dupont Trolley Station into an Arts Hub, Architect and Professor Stanley Ira Hallet, on The Voyeur in Architecture and the Cinema, Carmen Wong of Banished Productions on the synaesthetic experience of A Tactile Dinner and Co-founders of the Picnic Theater Company, Bruce MacPhail and Oli Robinson, give an exclusive peak behind the scenes of their outdoor summer production of Moliere's "The Hypochondriac".
