Why are Pavel Chekov and Commander Uhura My New Favorite Characters. Check out this interview with Gardner Goldsmith who was a writer for Voyager. We discuss how Star Trek has underlying Communist, Socialist views and how it is becoming more liberty oriented.

  • @intricatic yeah, to the workers. If it's not the case than it's not socialism, it's a front , a fake.

  • @seigneurvoland666 Communism / socialism is built upon the premise of the elimination of private property. Typically, an individual is considered the property of himself in most Western thought (thus the abolition of slavery and serfdom). It's not hard to draw conclusions from those two ideas and how they relate to one another. After all, under socialism and communism, stuff does still belong to someone.

  • Democratic Communism. Communism is GOOD if there's unlimited energy and replicators.

  • @squathacker

    "Gene Roddenberry was socialist"

    "people starve because of capitalism"

Sometimes I wonder how stupid people can be......... then I read youtube comments...

  • One world government doesn't mean different areas can't have their own culture and laws.

  • I would say that, in the ST universe, Earth is built around the ideals of volunteerism. There is no obligation to give to others, no external force that makes you care. You do selfless things because you feel that it's the right thing to do. The universe exemplifies results desired by communism, but I do feel that it has more of a libertarian Utopian touch to it because the concept of ownership and intellectual property hasn't been entirely eliminated.

  • @squathacker

and Capitalism created Star Trek :)

  • @seigneurvoland666

Like the USSR was any better. Capitalism FTW! Capitalism created Star Trek anyway :)
