i would play a 4-2-3-1 and asign one of the dm's to man mark there winger.

E.G. Italy vs Portugal

Marchisio marks Ronaldo and Pirlo marks Nani leaving Pepe Cammorenasi and Quarellaga in the middle

Hey ive also been having this problem and ive tried a few things out and found that 4 - 1 - 4 - 1 works very well for over in the middle and use opps instuctions to cover the wings but then causes a problem in attack as the opps defence closes down my single striker, I think its 1 of them things you will never get 100% right - Also in FM10 the AI of the game has been buffed up ALOT, if i use the same formation for more than 5 games it starts not working so well, so you always have to change it.
