LYRICS:

Verse 1:
Dear, Derick
You may not understand it
That's why I wrote this letter
In hopes that you'll understand this
The last few months we've been kind of crazy
Tugging at our heart strings
As if you'd gone and played me
But lately
I've realized I am undeserving
And the thought that I had cheated
Just had me feeling unnerving
Damn my stomachs churning
The room we built is burning
Even in my wildest dreams
I never thought we'd turn in
To
something that we had never planned
A boyfriend who loved me dearly
A girl who never had
A reason to hurt you
Or to say something hurtful
But instead I'm breaking hearts
Instead of supporting two
So I ask myself
Am I as good as it gets
Am I the girl of your dreams?
I mean the one who isn't wet
I know that you will you say yes
And tell me that I'm the best
And that's exactly why I can not
Keep you all towards myself

Verse 2:
When I'm alone in my room, sometimes I stare at the wall
Your number sitting on my dresser but I can't seem to call
In fear for what you may say
Cause you would beg me to stay
But as much as this will hurt
I know you'll thank me some day
So I'm breaking up with you
Cause I know its best for you
If you could see how things have been
You'd know that we've been destitute
I have taken the best from you
And now there's nothing left to do
But help you try and understand the message that I'm sending you
This is over; we can no longer be together
The rain stopped but tears can no longer be the weather
Unstoppable force meets immovable Heath Ledger
I love you my dear
But you know you deserve better
And you may ask, was it something that I did
And feel as if I've abandoned you like a fatherless kid
Understandably pissed
Not bother to give a shit
But know that you're the boy who I will always miss

Verse 3:
Leave you; leave you I can't really stand to
Wish I had the courage to say everything I planned to
Boyfriend, boyfriend used to call you boyfriend
Wanted you forever, who knew that I'd be a poison
But I know that you don't want to hear that
Honest when I say I promise I will not be back
Harsh but effective
And maybe I am neglecting
The fact that I had loved you
But not as much as the next chick
Will
Or even the girl after that
Cause she'll be there for you in all of the aftermath
Of bad choices and shut down voices
Of insecurities that became too boisterous
For
Either one of us to handle
Now we Elton John,
I'm the wind you the candle
And it hurts to admit it
But my love
for you
is really why we, are...

  • hey I was wondering if there's any way you can email me the instrumental to this song? I promise to give you the credit! I really want to write to this beat! :D

  • @wordlife619 I apologize for the late response. I'll have to hit up my producer for this particular song and see if he's alright. I'll let you know what he says. If he's cool with it then I'll send it your way.

  • I covet this song! The mixing is great.

I like how John Meyer's singing kind of replaces the high-pitched woman's voice generally featured in hip-hop/rap songs, especially during choruses; it gives a pleasant, mellow feeling to accompany your lyrics. Strategic sampling akin to that is rare. Kudos!

  • @ArtesanaSava Sorry for the late response, I actually thought I had replied to this earlier but in any case I really appreciate that you covet this song. I do too. I'd honestly say it's my best written piece of work musically. I really tried to break down that sampling idea of everything being high pitched in hip-hop songs so I'm glad you took notice of that. Thanks for recognizing the analytical aspect of the song. It's rare for fans to speak on that. I appreciate the listen and support. :)

  • amazing! great job Deon :P
