One of the first reports to highlight government killings in Algeria's desperate civil war. Patrolling through the winding streets of the Kasbah market in Algiers, our police escort is increased from six to forty. It's Islamic territory: the walls smeared with slogans of the banned opposition FIS. People are too afraid to speak. But at a packed Algerian football stadium fans chant for exit visas so they can leave their strife-torn country. The Bishop of Algiers lights candles for monks abducted and killed near the city. The monastery lies in an area controlled by an extreme Islamic faction: the Armed Islamic Group (GIA). Nearby, in Blida Police Station's 'Hero Room' we find hundreds of photos of officers assassinated in recent years. Lawyer Mohamed Tahri represents relatives of those believed murdered by the state security forces. In his waiting room mothers overcome their terror to speak out. At a funeral for one the security forces, also known as 'Exterminators', top politicians defy the Islamists and pay their respects. As President Zeroual clings desperately to power Algerians are worn down by a seemingly endless conflict.
@Shujahyder79
Agreed.
I was not looking for a super hero but ONE example of how to conduct my life...
I find it amazing that Muslim fail to note probability the most known fact of the ancient world that is missing from your religious text... Jesus' death by cross at the hand of roman souldiers... I have yet to find 1 real historian, that believes that Jesus existed, that claims history lied in this fact.

@milkydud you have to know the history of the prophets .. you know what happened to jesus, moses Mohammad and his family Abraham, ram, almost all the prophets had many challenges to accomplish for the mankind. they had to be influential and an inspirational figure to us so that we can follow the foot steps. it seems that you have a super hero in mind when thinking about such people from the history! yes it amazes you but the reality is more likely to be acceptable than the fiction.

@Shujahyder79 "prophets are Allah's blessing"
Ok, that's understood.
But are prophets more favored by God than regular humans.
If yes, how can we live our life as influenced/imulated by a prophet when we*regular humans* will not be judged Like them*prophets*?

@milkydud prophets are allah 's blessings on you and your parents and to our ancestors ...

@milkydud And thus he is WRONG. I don't understand this view that "Mohamed says rape is ok, thus, rape is ok"...NO. This is why Islam gets a bad rap, because Mohamed, for all his good ways, historically is known to have raped, pillaged and plundered. Despite the wrathful God of the Old Testament, the legacy of Jesus himself is to never have sinned, and not just in a Christian context but in a Universally moral context. I don't hate Islam, but the religion is only contextually "peaceful"

@thalickerM8 "(reply to 1) Anyone that use the Quran to justify what they want to do is way off track,"
I am sorry for butting in but please listen.
Surah 4:24 In short, Allah, the All Merciful and Compassionate, is saying, "For you 'Muslims', it's a crime to go after married women, but if they happen to be your captives (which obviously all the non-Muslim women were), then feel free to indulge yourself with them at will and without restraint or inhibition such as rape and sexual torture.

TO ALL MY MUSLIM FRIENDS, I HAVE ONE SIMPLE QUESTION:
Are Prophets ranked *spiritually* higher than an average person?
OR
Does God/allah bless Prophets more than an average person?

@PHOG1 ( cont 3) in the unintentional killing of an innocent person. Cutting someone hand off is a process, IF that person is of age in understanding and had the money to pay but chose not to then his/her hand should be cut off. If some one is hunger and didn't have money and resorted to stealing because no one would feed h/her then nothing can be done to that person. Also the person you stole from has the right to excuse you of stealing if you had the money to pay. If U want your hand d't steal

@PHOG1 (reply to 3 ) It's not a tiny crime, it's a crime that if it's punishment is only to pay a fine or spentd a little time in jail produces people that will continue to do the same thing over again & in the USA that person might end up spending years in jail leaving everybody else stiffed with the bill of feeding and housing such people who are then useless to the population and many times people that go from stealing small things move up the ladder of stealing which many times results CONT
