  • The characters used to write those words are different, so even if they are pronounced the same, you can't get them confused:

    日本 - Japan

    二本 - two narrow items

  • So to is used for 10 misc things and also means pagoda . It get you somehow confused when words that count means other words .

  • Nihon means Japan hon is also used to count for examples to bottles of beer is biru ni-hon i don't know what else you can count whit it and yes hon means book .
