Hunt for the Gold Basin Meteorite 3/3/10

Rob & Val, from the oil fields of Texas, hunt the strewnfields of Arizona, in search of their piece of the "Gold Basin" meteorite. At the end of the last Ice Age (12,000-years ago), the Gold Basin meteorite exploded above northwest Arizona, and spread itself over more than 130-square kilometers of what is now Mohave County, Arizona. This makes Gold Basin, the only fossil strewnfield outside Antarctica. What makes this area even more unique are the strewnfields from other meteorites that cross and combine with it. how much do you know about meteorites?i have sent off a piece of what i have,but while fooling around with it,cause its rusty and really old.i noticed shinny stuffy on it,beside the shinny metal inside it.yellow shinny stuff that looks like gold.i am trying to find info on meteorites covered in gold.any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the great info as well as the cool video. I learned alot just by reading the info and i cant wait to be able to make my pass at it. I can almost hear it calling me.
