@nailguitarskills yeah, down picking gives a certain tone to the notes, and down picking gives the heavy palm muted sound and that's what he's going for so yeah um shut your pie hole

he is down picking for a better quality of sound and cleanness to the riff i would know i play metal and for riffing like that down picking is alot better than alternate picking cause you lose the brightness and clean sound when you do it fast in a small section like that
