What a letdown! At first, I was thinking "Oh, hell yes, it's going to be Kong vs. Dinosaur vs. Anaconda vs. SuperVulture over a tiny dog." Is there nothing on this island but super-predators and tiny mammals? Was that the leg bone of the last of the megafauna? Where are that kid's parents???

So Kong is trying to rescue the dog from predators by luring it from the beach, when he remembers the kid scolding him about the dog, so he abandons it to be eaten. I guess.
