More Than A Game

Ever since he was a sophomore in high school at Archbishop Wood in Warminster Pa, Colin Thompson has been a leader for his school's football team. Colin has made a great impact both on and off the field. One way in particular that he has made an impact is in the way, he changed the life of his best friend John Shulby. John Shulby, who was born with Down syndrome, met Colin while they were in 8th grade at Holicong Middle School in Doylestown PA. Colin was John's track buddy, so Colin had to see to it to get John to all of his events. It was there at Holicong where John and Colin's friendship began to grow. Today John, who doesn't even go to Archbishop Wood, is on the sideline of every Wood football game. Colin introduced John to the whole football team, and now John is friends with everyone on the team. During the banquet at the end of the 2010 season, it was announced that John would be listed as number 99 on the football team's roster, and John was even presented with his own jersey. This friendship that Colin has developed with John has not only affected them, but the lives of those around him.
