There is no one who has ever had the percussive intensity of this man!

It doesn't get any more 70's than this.

@neondave You know, Buddy and Gene were great friends. And Buddy admitted that Gene was one of his favorites. especially in later years, when Gene was no longer as intense as he was in his youth, Buddy cared about Gene and respected him. Gene was a pioneer of jazz and big band drumming. But Gene said of Buddy, "Buddy Rich is the greatest drummer to ever draw breath."

@rockinredneck57 Good ear, my man, good ear! You obviously DO get it. Buddy's level of play was phenomenal. Amazingly, he got better w/ age. His technique became more intense, he became more and more proficient as time went on. It was his maturity. He played with more intensity, more dynamic, more passion. It was kind of like watching a fine wine go from great to spectacular.

@dougalmac54 I don't play drums but even I know that Buddy was the man! I do know talent when I see and hear it. I may not know exactly what he's doing, but I do know he's doing it as well as it can be done. This from a guitar player! I enjoy this style of playing much more than the death metal, double bass heavy stuff I hear a lot of the teenagers playing. This is entertaining to listen to. The other, not so much.

@TheMrClassicer Don't tell Buddy that.

That's either Buddy's real hair, or it's a really bad rug.
Buddy plays fantastic, as usual!
its a rug of course. Better than some of the rugs bellson had anyway haha. I liked the white one Buddy had during the late 80s. it suited him and looked real.
