Jon Corzine in New Jersey won a seat in the US Senate. Cost to him: $60 million. A drop in the bucket from his days as Goldman Sachs CEO.
Then, Jon won the race for governor of New Jersey. Cost to him: $43 million. He sold off the bulk of his Goldman Sachs stock to win that one.
Now, the times have changed. Governor Corzine is campaigning with a man who vilified Wall Street, who vilifies CEO pay and who vilifies excessive compensation. That man, Barack Obama, also leads Jon's political party.
President Obama ran on a platform of change. Jon Corzine is running from the platform of change. Why does Barack Obama help Jon Corzine?
There must be honor among thieves, after all.
