The University of Washington Bothell's Admissions Staff is reinventing our support for high schools in the Seattle School District which possess a large number of low-income, first generation, and ethnically diverse students. With the devastating budget cuts to the public school system, and more still to come, our institution has launched three Break the Cycle campaign to assist these public schools in promoting higher education for their underrepresented student bodies. This campaign is built around developing a pipeline between the Seattle high schools and the community colleges and four-year institutions. It is structured around the 3 Rs: Relationships - Honest dialogue about challenges and opportunities. Recruitment - College awareness events, FAFSA support, application days, and mentoring. Retention - Providing the community with academic support necessary for students to achieve degree completion
Thank you for this video! I am doing my thesis on recruitment strategies of First Generation students and this has been helpful!
