The metal halide lights are off and only the Actinics are on. The tank is getting ready to go to bed.

  • Not cool! Coral reefs are being decimated by fish collectors for aquariums.

Search for "Hawaii Audobon Society " on youtube to learn whats going on.

Aquarium tanks mean death for fish and destruction of our ocean environment.

  • @konafishlover Thank you for your comment. However, these clownfish and anemones are tank bred and raised. Also, most all the corals in the tank are also tank propagated and are many generations ago removed from the ocean. Home aquariums maybe the last remaining source of these beautiful animals. It is easy to blame the hobbyists but in most cases, we do not know why coral reefs are suffering.

  • This is probably the best tank we have ever seen. Clownies rule!

  • @starfishpeople Thanks! I appreciate the comments

  • Hi, I have read much of your blog, and thread on reefcentral. I am just curious what is your night time regimen for you pumps? The tank seems alot less wavy so to speak during this night time cool down. I love learning from your threads and videos, I feel very privilaged to have come across your tank. Thank you.

  • I have an Aquacontroller II made by Neptune Systems that controls the lights, temperature, Tunze Streams, etc. It has a photocell that turns down the current a bit when the lights are out. So you are correct, there is less current at night. Thank you so much for the nice comment.

  • @konafishlover you know, most fish actually live longer in captivity because there is many less dangers in a tank than in the ocean....

  • @konafishlover ive never even seen corals from a reef only fraged its getting waay to expensive to go to coral reefs and get thwm when you can cut a pice off and glue same whith fish its easier to tank breed and have the them used to eating then getting caught ones that wont eat its so mutch easier to do tank bread thing now and days

  • I've seen it with my own eyes! Fish collectors are making tons of money by decimating the reef. They break the coral and trap the fish, it's not a pretty sight. I've also traveled and educated myself. Fish in tanks die prematurely and are kept enslaved for the enjoyment of a few, when left in the ocean they can be enjoyed by many. I understand that clownfish can be tank raised, few others can be, and are instead ripped from their homes on the reef. (along with the coral). Cruel and destructive.

  • This is probably the best tank we have ever seen. Clownies rule!

  • Primo video man, 27 clowns :)
