  • Now that the Kennel Club and AKC got their pathetic hands on this magnificent breed we will end up with yet another breed which is nothing but a sad shadow of a once great past. Rottweilers that won't protect, GSD's that cannot run, Mastiffs that are afraid of a mouse, Boxers that rarely live longer than 5 years, Bulldogs that cannot breathe, run, mate or give birth and the list goes on. When will the Kennel Club and the AKC stop destroying these wonderful breeds...? Enough is enough already.

  • oooo! look at all the poor dogs with no ears. yes lets keep up that fashion statement, chop off puppies ears to look 'cool', what a fucking marvelous idea! cunts.

  • A mastiff & 4 bulldogs, was obvious who was the winner at first sighting but the old geezer still made them run around in circles! why not send the the 4 malnourished home to eat immedietly & let the one mastiff run around by himself?

  • If I got skin cut off my dick without my permission I can have my dogs ears done

  • @kungfuhussler39 Actually, the dogs are trained to stack just like they are trained to sit, stay, etc. And, the breeders aren't doing anything here. It is the handlers. Yes, there are some dogs who are bred, owned, and handled by the same person but usually it is 2 or 3 different people. And not all dogs and people do this for the titles. My bluetick coonhound and I do it simply because it's fun! He loves it. If he didn't, we wouldn't be showing. There's no point if he doesn't enjoy it too :)

  • @AcousticNic They are only cropped due to tradition. Danes and dobermans used to have their ears cropped like neos because they actively boar hunted and were guard dogs. Now they are cropped longer because people like the look better and because the short crop is no longer needed to protect their ears. It serves no purpose to crop ears now because most danes aren't out boar hunting, etc. So yes, they ARE actually cropped to look cool. The standard for neos allows natural ears AND cropped ears.

  • @hakidd8503 I have a bluetick coonhound. Hounds are known for hematomas. I haven't cropped HIS ears. Any dog with floppy ears can get a hematoma. A dog doesn't shake his head much if he doesn't have something wrong with them. That is usually an ear infection. To avoid ear infections... clean his ears! There's a concept. I clean my hound's ears every other day.

  • @MandyLionWWIII It already IS a shadow of it's former self. They used to look (and are still bred) similar to cane corsos. The old school working types are gorgeous!

And people need to get their facts straight. The AKC doesn't write the standard. The parent clubs of the breeds do. The AKC isn't the one destroying breeds. The parent clubs are.

  • @Freyasuse Cropping ears makes sense if you use your dog for Hunting or protection work, but if you don't there is really no point in doing it other then appearances. In actuality if cropping ears was truly to fight ear infections then why don't they crop all dogs ears? why only the tough looking dogs? look at cocker spaniels for instance they have floppy ears that are prone to ear infections how many cocker spaniels have you seen with cropped ears?

  • I am for cropping, although it sounds cruel: No infections in the ear. The same goes for tails: No injuries at the tails.

  • If a Neo has to get ear cropped for health reasons, as much as I find it inhumane, I understand. If it isn't for health reasons, I detest it.

  • The mistake with the AkC is that they have a champion then breed way to many dogs to this male and the gene pool gets narrower. With working breeds you have to have them prove themselves in the working area before they are showed. Then you can keep the type you want. Look at the show lab vs working lab , or what they did to the cocker spaniel, or the bulldog.
