May 19, 1999, daytime TV talk show host Rosie O'Donnell ambushed guest Tom Selleck for his support of the NRA and demanded that he justify the freedom to buy assault weapons. It seems he had only intended to plug a movie, but, of course, he commanded the "debate" with reason and logic. As opposed to Rosie's irrational, emotionally driven tirade.

  • @MikePinkerman I think the point is that people like their guns and we want to keep them. Just like we want to keep knives and archery equipment and cars and matches and several hundred other potentially dangerous things. I cant speak for the rest of the world, because I dont live in the rest of the world. I live in the US, and some of us like guns. Its a sport, its a hobby. Why would I get rid of my guns? Im not hurting anyone. I guess I'm not civilized? Oh well..

  • @rb2112002 Addiction and human propensity for murder are aspects of the human condition that are beyond control. They will never be elimated and are part of all cultures. Guns I would put in a different category, they are not part of many cultures. Of the Civilised World the US is one of the few exceptions.

Arguments on both sides of contentious issues are generally shallow, the gun debate is not different. Elimating guns in the US will take a generation, no quick fixes here.

  • She says at the end that it didn't go the way she'd hoped it would, and then that it wasn't a personal attack or affront. Well if it wasn't that, then why the hell did she ask what she asked and in the WAY she asked it? Does she not know the definition of "personal attack" or that it would seem that way? I think she's got some kind of learning disability that makes her socially inept or something, if she doesn't mean for things to go like this & they do.

  • @dejones408a Yeah and on top of that, she's done it to others. That is something she is known for. If I was ever famous, I would decline any offers to be interviewed by her.

  • Rosie is such a dumbass. She needs to shut it. She thinks she knows all kinds of shit about many things, when in fact she doesn't know jackshit.

  • @MikePinkerman It would work as well as making drugs illegal. It would work as well as making murder illegal. Criminals are the problem, not guns. Guns are the only defense against crime for many people. Disarming the victims will not help them, it will help the bad guys though.

  • @rb2112002 Gun control does work very well in countries where it is used. Gun crime in the USA is many factors greater than Western Europe and Canada. The problem though is simply imposing it will not reduce gun crime just like that. Guns are entrenched culturally in the USA and it will takes years to change that.

For a law to work you must have broad support for it. Look what happened to Prohibition in the 1920's. My guess is the same would happen with guns now in the USA.

  • @atari1317 Are you really telling people how to spell things correctly? Seriously?

  • MAN, I WANNA SHOVE MY FOOT UP HER ASS !!!!

  • Rosie should have just stayed with stand up comedy, and possibly making a few movies. Rosie and talk shows are not a good idea. I prefer Ellen.
