The following clip is a highlight. To view the full debate visit http://www.abc.net.au/tv/fora/stories/2009/02/04/2481826.htm
The first of the IQ2 debates for 2009 drew boos, cheers and hisses from the capacity audience, and that was just for Tony Abbott's address. Squaring up against a panel of pro-voluntary-euthanasia heavyweights led by Dr. Philip Nitschke, Abbott sharply divided the partisan audience. Both sides delivered passionate, sincere and reasoned arguments. But despite the rumoured 70-seat group booking made by the Right-to-Life Association, at the conclusion of the debate 75% of the audience voted for the proposition, with 20% against and 5% undecided.
