Sounds vaguely Turkish. I think in time any creative artist tires of repeating his cheap tricks - whether musician, painter, writer or whatever and longs to break from the constraints of form and find something new and fresh and spontaneous. Sometimes he's lucky, sometimes not. In this 'altered state' what emerges is to a greater or lesser degree the energy of the collective unconscious as Jung would term it - a return to the Massa Confusa.
